The Vancouver Racquets Club offers one of the best badminton programs in the city. With one of the city's largest badminton memberships, the club is able to offer a variety of active programs and events for both singles and doubles players alike. A very active junior program ensures a constant source of up and coming players and, with the assistance of our excellent team of badminton coaches, the opportunity for some of them to play in some of the best tournaments in the world.


 

 

 

 

 

The Vancouver Racquets Club features the best badminton facilities in BC. With six full courts and one practice court, green background, good spacing, a high ceiling, and excellent lighting between the courts - the facility is truly of international standard. This has been proven many times over with the visits of some of the top players in the world who have entered our many national and international-calibre tournaments. In turn, the Club has produced some of the best players in the country with many participating in the Olympics and top tournaments around the world.

Calvin Holoboff  (604-872-0208)
The Vancouver Racquets Club is fortunate to have top level Badminton Coach Calvin Holoboff. Calvin is a Level 4 NCCP Coach and has been coaching and training players at VRC for the past 25 years. He has had great success improving the skills of both beginners and advanced players and has also coached internationally for Canada. In 1997 Calvin was awarded the high honour of "Badminton Coach of the Year."

Badminton Facilities

The Club is accessible 24 hours a day to full-time members and includes access badminton courts, squash courts, an exercise room, mens and womens sauna, steamroom, showers, lockers, kitchen, licensed lounge, large screen TV, free parking, darts, free telephones, banquet facilities and meeting rooms.

Truly the VRC badminton facility is second to none.

A Competitive Ladder for Doubles Play
Mondays 8:00 pm and on
Every full time badminton member is welcome. Each player competes individually in Doubles play. Three games are played - one with each player in your group. The top two players advance, bottom two players drop. Absentees drop two spots. A great way to meet doubles players and improve your doubles play. Tags must be pulled out by 7:50 pm and player must be ready to play at 8:00 pm.

A Competitive and a "B" Ladder for Mixed Doubles Play
Thursdays 8:00 pm and on
You must have a partner for this ladder. Tags must be pulled out by 7:50 pm and both players must be ready to play at 8:00 pm. Teams are grouped in three's and each team plays two matches, best two out of three games. Top team advances, bottom team drops. Absentees drop two spots. It includes a competitive ladder and a "B" ladder to allow each mixed doubles team to play at their own level.

A Fun, Social Night to Meet New Players in Doubles Play
Wednesdays 8:00 - 10:00 pm
Every full time badminton member is welcome. Players must sign up on the blackboard. Four players match up to play a doubles game and then sign back up on the board. A great opportunity to mix around and meet other members. Calvin Holoboff or another coach will be present to assist players.

Junior Ladder
Wednesdays 4:00 - 6:00 pm
All juniors are welcome to take part in this competitive doubles ladder - Wednesday afternoons. Players are arranged in groups of 4 and compete with each partner in a series of doubles games. Winners advance and non-winners drop. Nylon shuttles are provided and all ages may participate.

Junior Group Training
The Junior Program at VRC is extensive and available to both members and non-members under the age of 19. Players are grouped according to skill level. We only accept registration with payment (by cash or cheque). For more information about this program go Junior Group Training.
