General Information
The playing season of the Vancouver Racquets Club covers a twelve (12) month period from May 1st to April 30th. All adult applicants must pay the full initiation fee appropriate to their category except summer & fitness and squash members. Juniors are not required to pay an initiation fee until they become students or adults.
All applicants join as Squash, Badminton or fitness members. For an additional fee you can join as a dual member in which case you shall have full playing privileges in both Badminton and Squash. Your membership also allows full use of the Fitness facilities or you may join for Fitness Only.
Annual Dues for membership can be paid annually, semi annually or monthly for full memberships. All memberships end April 30th regardless of the method of payment.
Application Form shown here is for reference only. Membership fees are shown on the Form. All applications should be made in person. At that time new members will be issued a shoe tag, parking sticker, and door key as applicable.
If you join in a group of 5-9 people, you will get 25% off the initiation fee, 50% off the initiation for a group of 10 or more. Initiation fee shall be paid upon joining. No initiation for Juniors or Junior (Summer/Fitness).
Guest Privileges Adult members may introduce up to two playing guests per month, one at a time. The same person may not be a guest more than once a month or 6 times in one year. Social guests may be introduced an unlimited number of times at no charge. There are no guest privileges for juniors. For more info on Guest Privileges...
Guest pass(es) is $12 each, 2 for $22, 5 for $50 or 10 for $90 . (GST is included).
Types of Memberships
Adult: Adult (full) membership entitles members to play 24 hours a day, all year round.
Spouse, Student: A spouse or full time student enjoys full playing privileges at discounted rates.
Senior Citizen: A person who is sixty-five years of age or older as of the beginning of the current membership year shall qualify as a Senior Citizen.
Family Junior: A child of an adult (full time) member who would otherwise qualify as an Independent Junior member, shall qualify for membership as a Family Junior. Member may only play during such hours as are designated by the Badminton or Squash Directors.
Independent Junior: A person who qualifies as a junior according to Badminton B.C. or Squash B.C. at the beginning of a membership year shall qualify as an Independent Junior. Member may only play during such hours as are designated by the Badminton or Squash Directors.
Daytime Only: Daytime membership is being offered for play limited to the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm during the weekdays of Monday to Friday inclusive.
Early Bird: Early Bird membership is being offered for play limited to the hours of 6:00 am to 8:45 am during the weekdays of Monday to Friday inclusive.
Retainer: Retainer memberships are available to only those persons who are members in good standing at the end of a particular season. There are no playing privileges for Retainer members. Guest fee must be paid for retainer. If there is a waiting list, a Retainer member may not become a playing member in mid-season but will have priority over the people on the waiting list for the following year. Dues are non-refundable and cannot be applied towards membership dues. Dues can only be pro-rated once from November 1st.
Out-of-town: Out-of-town members are entitled to play a maximum of 12 times in one year. No door key is issued. Out-of-town members must sign the guest book (no guest fee is required). Dues are not refundable. If there is a waiting list, an out-of-town member may not become a full member in mid season, but he/she will have priority over the people on the waiting list for the following year.
Squash Doubles Only: Gives you acccess to the Doubles Squash court 24/7 and also access to the fitness area from 6:00 am to midnight every day of the year. The membership is for squash players who wish to play doubles only squash.
Summer: The summer membership is for May, June, July and August. No initiation is required. A summer member has no voting privileges. Summer members are permitted to bring guests according to the guest rules.
Fitnesss Only: Allows use of fitness facilities, change room, sauna, and steamroom. No initiation is required. Fitness Only members have no access to the Squash or Badminton courts. A fitness member has no voting privileges. The Fitness Area is open from 6am to midnight every day of the year.
Waiting List Badminton: In the event that playing memberships are full, a waiting list will be formed. For an applicant's name to be placed on the waiting list, they must pay a waiting list deposit of $50.00 per person. The waiting list deposit will be applied to the initiation due once a membership has been taken out. This fee is non-refundable except when the Club has not been able to offer a membership within one (1) calendar year of the date of the application. In this event, upon receipt of written request from the applicant, the Club will refund the waiting list deposit. Applicants will be notified when openings occur and remittance covering payment must be received at that time.
Waiting List Fitness: In the event the fitness memberships are full, a waiting list will be formed. No deposit is required. Individuals will be contacted as spaces become available. Priority will be determined according to the date of registration on the wait list.
